Olivine Hits It Out of the Park: GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ Title with the Melbourne Renegades!

On Tuesday 18 November, the community came together for a morning packed with energy, excitement and red-hot Renegades spirit, and in spectacular fashion we’ve officially broken the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the Largest Cricket Lesson, with an incredible 1,070 participants stepping up to the crease.
Hosted on the superb Olivine Recreation Reserve, this record-breaker was a true team effort from Mirvac, Cricket Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades, with hundreds of local school students, families and cricket fans playing their part in cricketing history.
Class in Session: Hume Anglican Grammar and Donnybrook Primary School Power a Record Lesson
The Reserve, managed by the City of Whittlesea, was buzzing as students from Hume Anglican Grammar and Donnybrook Primary School joined Melbourne Renegades players and Cricket Victoria coaches for a one-of-a-kind mega lesson. Smiles were widescreen, the cheers were stadium loud, and the sound of leather on willow echoed across the ground as everyone learned new skills, made new mates, and helped set a new benchmark.
Scorecard: Partnerships for the Win
This milestone is more than a record, it’s a showcase of Olivine’s team spirit.
“Partnerships and events like this are crucial in growing the game at a community level,” said Dylan Prescott, General Manager Consumer Business at Cricket Victoria. “We’re proud to work with Mirvac’s Olivine to inspire the next generation of cricketers and promote a real passion for the sport.”
“At Mirvac, we believe staying active and connected through sport is fundamental to creating thriving communities,” said Elysa Anderson, General Manager, Residential Development VIC & WA. “It’s fantastic to see so many families and schools come together, that’s what Olivine is all about.”
Pitch Perfect: Facilities that Back a Big Innings
Olivine’s home ground advantage is real. The Reserve features two ovals, outdoor cricket nets, netball courts, a playground, dog park, and a modern sports pavilion, all designed for an active, family friendly lifestyle. And for the thrill seekers, the skate park is coming soon.
With Olivine set to grow to over 11,000 residents, days like this show how sport brings people together, builds connections, and inspires tomorrow’s stars.
From Backyard Blasters to Future Big Bash
As the stumps go back in the kit and the boundary cones are packed away, one thing is certain: the legacy of this day will echo through every backyard cover drive and every lunchtime net session. Every cricket legend starts somewhere, and for many, that journey began right here at Olivine.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, you’re officially part of history!
